It has power and toughness equal to the number of Forests you control, so early in the game its not very helpful, but in long games, pulling out your Leige on turn 18 with a straight green deck could be a steal
Creatures that are 4/4 or greater benefit a lot from fighting effects because youll probably destroy a decently-sized creature, gain a bunch of life, and survive to join the combat step and gain even more life

I wanted to add more lifegain for Crested Sunmare to roll off of that still stuck to the deck's theme and didn't gobble up too many slots, but investing too many cards into something that isn't your commander without black tutors never works out well
While there are no precon decks for them, savvy players can build their own based on the characters' abilities
So as a whole, I would say its obviously very good for Japan, but more than anything, its just trying to lean into the authenticity of what it represents to that market what the history is with respect to video gaming culture in that region, and making our players globally excited.
