Its not mandatory, but you can have this effect coming from the command zone, pairing it with the right commander
Sometimes you will be forced to get a Sol Ring or something, but if you do it on turn 1, that's not necessarily the worst play you can do, even if you are down a card, unlike Demonic Tutor
