Life gain gets no respect, because when you invest mana and cards in life gain it has the nasty habit of not making a difference, especially when you're trying to play a burn-heavy game, which either involves trying to burn out an opponent or all opposing creatures

Those strategies are cards that gain value from discarding (especially lands), cards that can allow you to play many lands, landfall, and cards with leaves the graveyard triggers
It doesn't effect the board at all, it gets rid of your opponent's worst card, if they even have any, and it's honestly kind of hard to cast from your hand, let alone when you escape it
