The last way white lends aid to your mana base is by helping you tutor (search your library) for lands (often Plains cards), and adding them to your hand
The thing is, losing life is easier than gaining (and much more dangerous)
If your opponents are still standing, you can simply repeat the process on your next attack, making it incredibly difficult for them to break through your defenses
Clones nearly always leave you with the best creature in play, or at least in control of a duplicate of the actual best creature
The most common pairing is Numa, Joraga Chieftain, but I prefer Thrasios, Triton Hero (one of Magic's best merfolks) or Tana, the Bloodsower for a better color identity
